7 Best Face Serums for You in 2022

Best Face Serums – ideal for upping your skincare routine! As good as our skin is at protecting us from the harsh environment and sun damage – inevitably we won’t be able to stop the process of ageing! It will happen – kind of no matter what! Wrinkles, fine lines and blemishes are all indicators that our collagen production has been affected which essentially means our skin cells (fibroblasts) are under stress. A valuable lesson for me from 2021 was that bad or damaged skin affects ones self-confidence, which ultimately affects your mental health. So be skin wise – learn the ingredients and choose a product that will help you!

SOS our skin needs help!

At this stage we need all the skincare help we can get. We need to stop the signs of ageing – as soon as possible. We need to fight back – if it isn’t too late. We need to find ingredients that will plump up our skin, make it appear youthful and slow down the ageing process. Something we need to take into consideration is that smoother skin means easier makeup application (helps with self-confidence)! So what do we need to do? As much as we exfoliate, cleanse and hydrate there is one skincare product that we must include in our skincare routines (SOS).

Best Face Serums
Serums from Glamore Cosmetics contain different ingredients.

Face serums were incredibly popular in 2021 and this is one product that will be continuing its role in 2022. 2021 is now G.O.N.E and I can’t say that I am sad to see it go; I can just say that I learnt many lessons. Another vital lesson from 2021 was that there is ONE product for everyone that should be used every single day, depending on your skincare concern. This product is non-negotiable and whether your skincare routine is one product or 100 – the best face serums are ones you cannot live without!

Clean, smooth skin has also been very popular in 2021 and will more than likely continue in 2022

Best Face Serum – what are they exactly?

Best Face Serums are concentrated beauty products which, unlike creams, work quickly and directly into the skin. They can be applied directly onto the skin or if necessary added to your favourite beauty cream and then gently applied to the skin. The beauty behind best face serums is that their ingredients are concentrated so they will help the skin heal faster, especially those with hero ingredients (such as Vitamin C/ Hyaluronic Acid). These active ingredients penetrate the skin directly and will focus on things like hyperpigmentation, wrinkles/ fine lines and in some cases even acne.

Do you need a Face Serum?

Yes! Glamore Cosmetics recently has imported a full range of serums from Poland (Delia Cosmetics) for all skin types and skin tones. There will be one for you – you just need to know your skin type/ how your skin feels (after washing or after moisturizing). In some cases you might have skincare concerns like dark spots or marks from pregnancy or even the sun – for this you can definitely use a serum. As with anything, remember it will take time and in certain cases it might help to apply directly to the skin.

Best face serums contain active ingredients so don’t use them together – identify your skincare concern and try and target it. We realize that the market is saturated with so many different products – so many skincare brands all promise the best face serums and best ingredients. For us we choose ingredients that are 1) cruelty-free, 2) vegan friendly and 3) hypoallergenic – we believe that the best face serums should be able to be used by everyone which is why our products are affordable.

Cruelty-free products are important to us.

Many people believe that only expensive skincare brands will work on your skin – this trend is disappearing and we are firmly supporting ‘less is more’. Add a drop of your best face serum to a great moisturizer and you get something called ‘microdosing‘ and yes, it will work, even that little drop is enough to help skin healing. For me, this is a great way to go especially if you have sensitive skin – you will immediately see if you break out etc. It is all about balance and finding out what works for your skin.

If you do have sensitive skin, be very aware of the ingredients and in particular concentrations/ percentages – always start with a product that has a lower concentration/ percentage of an active ingredient. Start once a week and see how your skin reacts and then slowly increase to twice etc this way you will ensure that your skin tolerates the active ingredient.

When it comes to sensitive skin I can’t say it often enough – USE SUN SCREEN – every day. Glamore Cosmetics just got one in from Delia – smells good and leaves no white residue – you should check it out asap!

In order to be less confusing, we are going to break down the best face serums that we have – for what skin type and what it can do for you. Remember that nothing will happen or necessarily change overnight – everything takes time. What excites me about this brand is that they are now becoming more natural and more organic which will ultimately be good for the environment.

If you want to try some microdosing with these best face serums, remember that Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid are active ingredients so you can add them to the Collagen serum (or other creams) and see how effective this is on your skin. As mentioned above microdosing is going to be trending in 2022. Its intention is to assist with repairing the skin barrier. The skin barrier which is the outer layer of our skin (sort of like the first line of defense) becomes broken as we get older, caused by sun damage, aging and the harsh environment.

The sun damages our skin barrier and we need to avoid this – especially in people with sensitive skin as the damage can be worse such as eczema or Rosacea. Read up and start using the sunscreen SPF 50 from Delia – no white residue and offers great protection. This is not a waterproof sunscreen so please remember to reapply often especially after swimming or even sweating during sport.

We break our skin barrier in the sun

Microdosing aims to try and fix this damage – in some cases it is too late but it is always worth trying right? Best face serums are very popular and I highly recommend you purchase at least one to try – you can also use them together or even seasonal because our skin needs change – either as we grow older or with the seasons.

In 2022 there will be other skincare trends – some will become trending whereas others will fall away. I think another one that might last the year is packaging. Along that line we have a new skincare range also from Delia Cosmetics called EkoFlorist. As far as packaging is concerned they have focused on the following: their packaging is certified by Green Life according to Cosmos standards, their packaging is recyclable – their cap is made from eco shavings. The box is cellophane/ plastic free. So not only is this product: vegan friendly. cruelty free, hypoallergenic but also organic, natural as well as made with materials which are sensitive to nature!

I like it! I like it a lot and I really hope that more people are becoming aware of what skincare products THEY are using. Plus it has a a best face serum as well which is great – in fact it has an entire range of products. Remember we all make choices – my suggestion for 2022 is choose wisely, if you can choose local, do it, support South African people. Choose so that not only your skin benefits, but that we help our environment in every way possible.

Mental health is going to be something we are all going to be dealing with at some stage. Having healthy skin boosts confidence and being able to apply basic makeup will make you feel ‘better’. I have seen this recently with young people who dislike their jobs and don’t want to get up in the mornings. But by doing makeup and putting on some extra glitter has actually had a positive and motivational reason for getting up every day. One does what one has to do – and I seriously hope that you realize sooner rather than later that healthy skin is fulfilling and pampering.

What have you done for yourself today?

Please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions in the comment section below. What is your opinion? Is cruelty free/ vegan friendly important to you? How about the environment? I would be most keen on chatting to you so leave a comment or email me – I am waiting to connect!

Very informative post, thank you! I tried the Delia Vitamin C serum once before and was really shocked at how well it worked at lightening my hyperpigmentation. No skin irritation. Fast absorbing. Will definitely use that one again. Currently enjoying the AA Cosmetics Vitamin C serum very much as well.
